Idle & Wonder
My recent photoshoot with Idle&Wonder, a visionary event studio renowned for its modern and spirited approach to hospitality, was one such exhilarating experience. Set amidst the serene backdrop of 42 acres of lush landscape, this shoot was not just about capturing moments but about narrating a story of elegance, innovation, and joy.
3 things to do in your yoga retreat to make it stand out
I am a yoga and wellness photographer and a yoga teacher. I have been on many retreats either as a teacher or as a photographer and I can now discern what is needed to make a yoga retreat unforgettable.
Yoga retreat at the Quaives… number two
As it turns out, The Quaives is a very popular destination for yoga retreats. Having now been there twice, I understand why. The studio is gorgeous, the countryside is peaceful and the bungalows are luxurious. Being there in the Autumn was such a joy as we got to use the Swedish hot tubs in the sunset and go on Autumnal walks early in the mornings, which was such a sweet way to ease into the season and renewed my love for it.
Yoga retreat in Cornwall
I don’t think I can pick a favourite when it comes to retreats but this one might have a slight advantage: it is the first in person retreat I organised with my boyfriend and business partner Mike Julian. We escaped to Cornwall with a mix of both our students in a gorgeous farm and were able to pet many animals although my heart belonged to the three little lambs.
Yoga retreat in Morocco
I am a full time photographer, but I am also a part time teacher. Which means I have one and a half jobs?! Anyway I organised a yoga retreat in Morocco with my partner to escape the fast arrival of Autumn in the UK and for my first retreat abroad I couldn't have hoped for a better time …
Yoga retreat to welcome autumn
I do love Autumn … Mica Francis Angel and I met on Instagram and she is one of those people with whom I regularly check in online and we say “we should get coffee together!” and then life happens. It is the London curse of working with lovely people and not having enough time! Mica commissioned me to take pictures for her Autumnal day retreat, where I left my cosy SE London home to go all the way to North London (a rare occurrence).
Yoga retreat at the Quaives
One of the perks of being a yoga teacher as well as a photographer is that I get commissioned to work on yoga retreats and immerse myself in pockets of communities I would never get to know otherwise. This yoga retreat in Kent was a double whammy as I was hired to teach AND take pictures which was actually less stressful than it sounds.
How to bring a photographer on your retreat
I’ve run retreats of my own and have been a photographer on others. I’ve been on the back end of painful number crunching, excel sheeting, advertising yoga retreat preparation and planning and I’ve made mistakes as a photographer and as a teacher. So if you’re thinking of bringing a photographer on your retreat, here a few things to consider…
3 reasons you should have a photographer on your yoga retreat
In the era of smartphones and cheap digital cameras it can be easy to think the photographer’s job is one that is easily replaced - however if you’ve ever been serious about taking your yoga business to the next level, here’s why you should take a professional with you on your yoga retreat.
